An urban family concept in Tokyo

How do you combine running a busy, succesful business with being super dedicated to your family? Katsumi Kuwano and his wife Mari found their way of balancing work and enjoying family life with their 5-year-old boy Katsuma.

They considered living outside of Tokyo in a big house with a nice garden but decided to stay in the city close to Mr. Kuwano’s e-com company in order to save time on everyday transportation. In the city they created their own little oasis with help from Interior Designer Takashi Masuda. With neutral colours and functional furniture they made a stylish and spacious home - perfect for the family of three.

The couple shares the taste of simplicity and both have a strong preference for pure white. While it is the perfect colour to make their space look bigger, adding some splashes of dark colour along with different textures helps to upgrade the overall look.
As Mari puts it: “Our room would have been pale and boring had we not asked for professional help”

Meet the interior designer

Takashi Masuda

Takashi is one of BoConcept’s creative interior designers and the talent behind this cool Tokyo apartment.

Takashi advised the Kuwanos to bring in some darker colours which the couple say they would never have come up with themselves. The base of the apartment is very bright and elegant. The larger pieces of furniture is based on white, metal and leather so Takashi decided to add soft items like rugs and cushions to make the room feel more cozy.
