Problem-solving design

Partner at BIG and lead designer behind the Nawabari collection, Jakob Lange believes that good design should feel simple, intuitive and part of everyday life. Drawing on his experience designing spaces for how people actually live, Lange brings an architectural clarity to the furniture he crafts.

Sculpted by tension

Inspired by the Japanese art of rope binding, Nawabari explores the tension between softness and structure. Shaping upholstered volumes into a bold, sculptural form, the design transforms a simple principle into a striking presence.

“It is very attractive as a designer not only to design great objects, but also design objects or pieces of furniture that reach everybody”
