They’re very simple – but sometimes the best things are. Vaniljekranse, a cup of gløgg (Danish mulled wine), and the comfort of friends and family make up real Danish hygge. Enjoy the taste of the season like in our home country of Denmark with these delicious butter cookies.


  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 1/2 sticks butter
  • 3 1/4 cups flour
  • 2 free-range eggs
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 vanilla pod - split and seeded

Heat the oven to 400°F. Mix the vanilla seeds with sugar and combine it with the butter. Add flour, salt, and eggs and knead thoroughly but not for too long. Add the mixture to a piping bag with a star shaped tip and make small circles on a tray lined with baking paper. Bake for 12 minutes until golden.
