When the owners of a classically styled family home in Surabaya found themselves short on room for the things they loved most, cooking together, hosting, gathering an extended family under one roof, they didn't move. They bought the house next door.
The result, Casa Amarilla, is a 440 sqm extension conceived by Align Interior Design, and furnished throughout by BoConcept. Rather than replicating the original residence, the new wing takes its own direction entirely, a Mediterranean-inspired counterpart to the classic house it adjoins, open-plan, sun-filled, and built for gathering.
The project brought together two distinct architectural identities: the classic character of the original residence and a new Mediterranean-inspired extension. The challenge was to create a smooth connection between the two, while giving the new spaces their own sense of lightness and warmth. Through open-plan layouts, natural materials and carefully curated interiors, the home achieves a cohesive balance between elegance, comfort and functionality.
BoConcept was selected for its modern timeless Scandinavian aesthetic, which aligned naturally with the overall design vision. The furniture introduced a clean and understated language that complemented the architecture without overwhelming it. Just as importantly, the collections offered the flexibility needed for a family home, combining comfort, adaptability and a refined visual identity suited to both daily life and larger gatherings.
Today, Casa Amarilla gives the family a more organised, flexible and enjoyable way of living. The spaces are designed to adapt easily, equally suited to quiet everyday moments and larger social occasions. The project also marks the sixth completed collaboration between BoConcept Indonesia and Align Interior Design, reflecting the value of long-term partnerships in creating thoughtful, high-end residential interiors.
